Step by Step Digital Art (step 3)

Adding another layer, I began to paint his skin, clothes etc. It's not a very good picture of the progress I've made but it shows how I began painting.I generally started to paint the area around his eye, using little to no detail just to map out where the color is and what colors should be where (for example, the skin under his eye is a darker shade than his cheeks from where the shadows sit). You could also make another layer as you start painting, but this is just an option, you don't have to make another layer if you don't want to. (A good trick to digital art is to flip your canvas, it may sound strange but it helps you see your painting from a different perspective and can help you find anything you want to fix.)
